I have gained significant professional experience working within the Public Service of Saint Lucia; specifically the Customs and Excise Department. The mandate of the Department is the collection and protection of Government revenue.

Duty Free officer

• Responsible for over 300 duty free shops around the Island.

• Mentored, coached and guided four (4) officers.

• Compiled critical data that led to expert and more thorough decision making as it relates to money laundering and terrorist financing.

• Made recommendations towards the Modern Duty Free Management Software, that contributed to significant cost savings in Government Revenue

• Prepared applications for duty free shop operators License.

• In a momentous blow to the drug trade, a prodigious feat of Customs work resulted in the interception and confiscation of a staggering quantity of contraband substances. This happened despite the challenge posed by widespread industrial action, which saw over 90% of personnel unavailable, I was the solitary officer who took on this daunting task and emerged victorious. 

• Participated in intelligence gathering for our sister agencies, mainly the United States, United Kingdom and Canada.

• Oversaw the private warehouses.

• Managed the duty free shopping system responsible for sale approval of approved goods and consumables.

• Deposits of approved goods.

• Monitored for the importation of restricted goods.

• Supervised the conditions applicable to the sale of approved goods and consumables.

• Prepared applications for duty free shop operators’ license, duty free operators permit.
